We
opened up the kitchen to the dining room and created a banquette
in the dining room to get enough space for the breakfast bar/peninsula.
The neighboring house is only 4 feet away, so we used the high windows
to let in light but preserve privacy. The homeowner also didn't
want any cabinets over her working counters so the high windows
and the shelf above the sink keep the working counter from feeling
closed in. She is also a serious cook who loves to bake and entertain.
So we created a baking station (the black stained cabinet) with
pocket doors that hide the mixer and food processor. The baking
station also has pullouts below the counter that are specially sized
for her flour and sugar containers. There are also drawers for her
baking spices, utensils and pans. |
